Nestling in the shadow of El Misti a snow-capped volcano which towers above it lies the city of Arequipa. The cathedral itself is open to the public in the morning and the evening and is well worth a visit. There are also several other colonial-era churches close to the Plaza that are fine examples of the elegant mestizo style.
