Basically, there are about 14 different departments on a cruise ship, with each department being responsible for hiring a particular group of employees to fill the jobs available on the cruise ship. The Deck department is by far where the highest paying cruise ship jobs are, as this department fills the need for captains and all other officers, as well as hiring security staff members and safety officers. The safety officers aboard a cruise ship do the same job as a policeman would on dry land.
The Galley department is in charge of obtaining employees to fill jobs such as butchers, dishwashers, cooks, pastry chefs, as well as any other kitchen staff. The I.T. department can offer jobs to those trained in computer systems, computer repair and the like.
