While Christianity had traditionally frowned upon public references to sex and upon any attempts to treasure what it still sees as a fundamentally dirty and degrading act, other religions and peoples had different ideas. The best known of the exotic systems of beliefs are Tantra and various pagan denominations. Among the lesser-known systems are the beliefs of certain tribes from Papua New Guinea and Africa.
The basic idea behind such beliefs is that semen is a fluid with magic properties that can be used to augment the natural powers of other people.
