One of the main problems with tap water is the chemicals used to purify it from pathogens. Most water sources use chemicals such as chlorine, and other chemicals which are very unhealthy. Also, most tap water originally comes from poor quality sources. A good example is the city where used to live. They got their water from the local river, which was far from clean. Several upstream cities dumped (treated) sewage into the river. There were also many farms upstream that contributed agriculture chemicals to the mix. In fact, most people would not even eat fish caught in the river. But that was where our drinking water came from.
