Beach cruiser lowriders are quickly become one of the most popular new bicycle styles available. In many urban areas, clubs are being formed to link together people who ride, design, and customize these popular bikes. These bikes are an offshoot of the traditional bicycle that was known as a beach cruiser. The first beach cruiser bikes were made in the 1950s and were created to look like rocket ships or even motorcycles. The newer beach cruiser bikes are made to be lower to the ground and are slightly elongated, which is what they are called beach cruiser lowriders.
The first lowrider was said to have been rode during the 1960s television show, The Munsters. Eddie Munster rode a Schwinn Stingray that instantly drew peoples attention and caused them to want one of their very own. This caused a lowrider phenomenon across the country and this first bike was copied many times over.
