Torrevieja is located 50 kilometres southwest of Alicante. Most travellers arrive in the Alicante airport and use a car hire to get around the area. The citys name means old tower. This refers to an old salt tower that was located in the area through the 1800s.

The Costa Blanca has the best year round temperatures in Spain. Its not as cold and wet in the winter as the Costa Brava. Its also not as hot and humid as the Costa del Sol, which is located to the south. The World Health Organization has called the climate here one of the healthiest in the world.
The Costa Blanca means the white coast. It is located on the Eastern coast of Spain, along the Mediterranean Sea. The Costa Blanca runs from the city of Denia in the north to the city of Torrevieja in the south.
