A satellite in orbit is typically called a Bird hence Rupert Murdochs term turd bird. Why would the owner of DirectTV be undermining his own company?
Perhaps out of frustration! As reported in Variety Business, and also confirmed by CNBC, Murdoch is considering selling 38% of his controlling stake of DirectTV to Liberty Media. According to Variety Business, Murdochs has been down on the satellite business lately. Mostly because theres no way satellite can successfully compete with the Cable industry. Cable TV Operators continue to roll out whats called Triple Play which consists of Cable TV video channels, high-speed internet {Cable internet}, and Cable telephone services that DirectTV and Dish Network cant match.
