Frankfurt is the biggest city of the state of Hessen located in the center of Germany. Is is well known for it skyscrapers, international airport and as the financial capital of Europe. Getting around is easy because of its modern and efficient public transport system. In Frankfurt there are several interesting landmarks to visit like a large number of museums, art galleries, concert halls and historical buildings.

The Goethehaus is the house where Goethe was born on 28th August 1749. When visiting the house you can get an impression how people lived in the late baroque period. It was completely destroyed during the Second World War but it was restored to its original state between 1946 and 1951. Most of the objects that are on display didn’t belong to the Goethe family, but they are from the same period. It’s also worth taking a trip to the adjoining Goethe Museum, which was renovated and contains both a library and a bookshop.
