Many home-based businesses begin with a very specific goal in mind. The destination is firmly fixed in the minds of the entrepreneur. However that goal is rarely realized in an overnight success fashion.
When an entrepreneur discovers this they can either give up or they might diversify to find a means of paying the bills. Most chose the latter option.
The difficulty comes when the original goal is sacrificed for the expediency of cash flow. It is normal for home-based businesses to diversify their offerings in order to derive an ongoing income. By shifting the focus away from the original vision the business will likely see a diminished capacity for vision growth. The reason this is true is you will be pulled in so many different directions it will become almost impossibly to find the time to concentrate on fulfilling the original vision.
