If you want to communicate from Mexico to anywhere else in the world, do not use the Postal Service. If it is not the worst in the world, it has to be in the top ten. I have harangued and harangued about this in countless columns and articles. The Mexican feds have yet to do something about it. Are they listening?
The most recent mishap was that it took a check from my wifes parents more than eight weeks to reach us. When we endorsed it and sent back via airmail, it took more than a month to reach our bank. We spent more than $2.50 USD to send it and it still took that long.
If you want to live in Mexico, you will have to contend with the issue of communication. How to do it, when do it, and what is going to work the day you need it to function.
The mail system sucks. There is no other way to describe it. Actually, there is another way but I dont think my editors would like me to use that kind of language. There are times when you will elect to use the postal service. Be prepared for the worst.
