The United States President Bush in his State of the Union address 2004 urged team owners, players, coaches and union officials to crack down on steroid use in sports; in fact, urged them to eliminate steroids from sports.
Speaking on steroid use in sports, the former owner of the Texas Rangers baseball team, President Bush called for pro sports leagues and athletes to set better examples for children and “get rid of steroids now.”
Bush particularly referred to steroid use in Major League Baseball and the NFL that were all set to implement a strong policy against steroid use in sports.
Bush said, Unfortunately, some in professional sports are not setting much of an example; steroid use in sports, such as baseball, football and other sports is dangerous, and it sends the wrong message that there are shortcuts to accomplishment and that performance is more important than character.
