Record Setting Season For Us Men’s Sabre

The race to Olympic qualification is like the Indy 500. The race is a rolling start where you get to carry the momentum from prior tournaments into the race. In terms of Olympic qualification, things are looking good for the US Men’s Sabre team as they are off to a torrid pace for the first half of the 2007 World Cup Season.

With 3 world team events remaining, the US team ranks 8th in the world and is the top team from the Americas zone, both of which would qualify the US team for the Olympics if the selection were today.

In the most recent Men’s Sabre world cup event, Tim Morehouse took silver in his loss to world #2 Julien Pillet by one point, 15-14, in the final match. That placement vaulted Morehouse into the top-32 in the world individual rankings where he joins his 3 teammates.

When commenting on the team’s success, Morehouse says, “We have had 6 world cups in a row with an American in the top-8 at least and 3 with an American in the top-4.
