The smallest nation (in terms of land area) in the Western Hemisphere, Saint Kitts and Nevis might not seem like the most obvious place to find good gambling opportunities. Yet this tiny Caribbean state, which with a population of just 43,000 is the least populous country to have United Nations membership, enjoys the facilities of two fully-fledged casinos, including the celebrated Royal Resort casino.
Surprisingly neither of Saint Kitts and Nevis Casinos are found in the capital city (if one can term a town of 15,000 people a city) of Basseterre. Instead both of the casinos are located in the Frigate Bay resort, which is found on one of the nation’s many islands.
The Royal Resort Casino, at 858 Frigate Bay Road, offers an incredible 35,000 square feet of gambling opportunities. There are a scarcely believable 403 slot machines, and – we’re now talking Las Vegas proportions – 34 gaming tables. These offer a huge range of games, including 3 card poker, Baccarat, Blackjack, Caribbean Stud Poker, Craps, Let It Ride and Spanish 21 (a version of standard Blackjack using Spanish decks of cards).
