You still get to enjoy the low interest rate of 3.99 percent on balance transfers and 16.99 percent on purchases and cash advances if you apply for the American Express AIR MILES credit card. This balance transfer rate is applicable only for the first six months. You need to make your minimum monthly payments on time though, otherwise all introductory period features like the low rate will become void, and the transferred balance will become like a normal purchase transaction, which is subject to the applicable interest rate prevailing at the time.
Remember that if you incur two separate missed payments within the introductory period, you will be charged 19.99 percent, instead of 16.99 percent, for purchases and fund advances.
