1999 saw the launch of the first in a series of four Blue American Express credit cards, the innovative concept of which was based on a highly successful model employed in Europe. In 2002, American Express added their Blue Sky from American Express credit card to the thriving Blue stable. This was pretty much an industry first in as far as travel credit cards were concerned.
Generally speaking, when you hold a travel credit card, you would be subjected to rather hefty annual fees, blackout dates, expiry dates and capacity-control restrictions. In some instances who you travel with, and who you book through are subject to conditions too.
