Costa Blanca, or White Coast, is an expanse of beaches, resorts and other tourist attractions. It stretches from Torrevieja in the south, up along the coastline through Benidorm, one of the most popular resort areas in Spain, ending in Denia, a coastal mountain town.
Torrevieja, which translates to old tower, was named after the only structure in town, an ancient guard tower. Today, its famous for its salt exports. The tourism and fishing industry round out the top three most important sources of revenue for the areas economy. The city boasts an entire coastline of sandy beaches, as well as a variety of shopping and dining opportunities.
